6.7L Power Stroke Cold Side Charge Pipe Installation Guide (2017–2025) — LP100

Why replace the factory cold side pipe
The OE cold side charge pipe is plastic — and brittle plastic under repeated boost and heat cycles is a known failure point. The LP100 replaces it with mandrel-formed 6061 aluminum tubing, two 4-ply silicone boots, and stainless spring-loaded clamps, plus an aluminum coupler and retainer clip that replace the plastic OE coupler entirely. The result is a charge path that holds pressure and doesn't crack with age.

- 1 × aluminum coupler and retainer clip (replaces the plastic OE coupler)

Tools you'll need
- 7mm socket or flathead screwdriver (for clamps)
- 11mm or 13mm socket & ratchet (for the intercooler bracket, if necessary)
- Ratchet extensions

Go easy on the lubricant. A light coat helps the boots slide on — but too much lubrication can cause the boots to detach under boost. Use it sparingly and with judgment to ensure a leak-free install.
How to install a cold side charge pipe on a 6.7L Power Stroke
- Warm the engine (cold weather). Run the engine to operating temperature to soften the rubber boots. If the ambient temperature is over 70°F, this step shouldn't be necessary.
- Loosen the stock clamps and remove the OEM pipe. Using a socket or screwdriver, loosen the upper and lower clamps on the factory rubber boot. Disconnect the air sensor plug, remove the harness with a clip removal tool, and tuck the harness out of the way. Using a pick or flat-blade screwdriver, remove the factory retainer clip, slide the couplers off, and remove the OEM plastic pipe.
- Remove the intercooler mount (if necessary). If the bracket obstructs installation, remove it with an 11mm or 13mm socket.
- Inspect components. Ensure the OEM couplers are removed and inspect the mating surfaces for cleanliness. Confirm you have the aluminum pipe, both silicone boots, all four spring-loaded clamps, and the aluminum coupler with retainer clip.
- Pre-fit the assembly. Place a silicone boot over each end of the new pipe. If needed, apply a light coat of lubricating compound to the pipe for an easier install — sparingly.
- Align and seat the pipe. Slide the lower boot onto the intercooler outlet first, then the upper boot onto the turbocharger outlet (tip: it's easier to put the clamps on before sliding the boots on — leave them loose for final alignment). Adjust the boots and compare the new pipe's alignment against the factory pipe to confirm fitment. Position the assembly flush in the vehicle, ensuring both boots have proper clearance from wiring and hoses. Push the aluminum coupler (with retainer clip and seal) into place, and pull on the pipe to confirm it's locked. Then reinstall the air sensor and connector, and secure the wire harness.
- Secure the clamps. Using pliers or a screwdriver, compress and seat each spring clamp squarely over the silicone boot ends — four clamps total. Make sure they're evenly seated to form a leak-proof seal under pressure. Clamps should be snug until the spring is fully engaged; no need to overtighten.
- Reinstall the bracket (if removed). Bolt the intercooler bracket back in place and torque to factory specs.
- Double-check fitment. Verify the pipe is centered and not contacting nearby components, the clamps sit square and snug, and the silicone boots aren't twisted or pinched.
- Pressure and leak test. Start and idle the engine, and inspect for hiss or leaks. Once confident, take a test drive, then re-check clamp seating after the turbo has cycled. Under load, confirm boost holds with no drop or fluctuations.
Installation tips
- The 6061 aluminum tubing delivers long-lasting durability — no more brittle factory plastic.
- Push the lower boot on first, then the upper — it makes installation easier.
- A light amount of silicone-safe lubricating compound on the coupler ends makes sliding easier.
- Tighten clamps uniformly to avoid uneven sealing or twisting.
