Engineering details

Small details. A secure assembly.

The bolt head bears on a hardened washer while the threaded end engages the engine block. Tightening the bolt creates the clamping load that holds the cylinder head and gasket against the block.

Alloy steel head bolts with a black oxide finish, paired with hardened parallel washers.

Threads rolled after treatment.

The bolt threads are rolled after thermal treatment as part of the manufacturing process.

Hardened parallel washers sit beneath the bolt heads and distribute load across the seating surfaces. Use the supplied assembly lubricant with the correct procedure for your kit.

Will this kit fit my engine?

For compatible 2004–2014 Chevrolet Gen III/IV LS engines with same-length primary head bolts. GM has a mid-year bolt-length split; compare the original primary bolts before ordering. This kit does not fit engines with two different primary bolt lengths.

Does this kit use bolts or studs?

This kit uses head bolts with integral heads and hardened parallel washers. Separate studs and retaining nuts are not included.

Which bolt sizes are included?

The kit contains 30 bolts in total across M11 × 113.7 mm and M8 × 57 mm sizes, with 30 hardened parallel washers. The two sockets are 10 mm and 13 mm.

Which installation instructions should I follow?

Use the linked current installation manual and its tightening sequence. The final torque for the 11 mm bolts is 80 ft-lb; an older printed manual incorrectly listed 85 ft-lb.
