What drivers say about XOTIC PERFORMANCE™
Connecting Rod Bolt Kit - 2003-2010 6.0L/6.4L Ford Power Stroke
UNRIVALVED DURABILITY
Our precision-engineered XOTIC PERFORMANCE connecting rod bolts are heat-treated and precisely designed to withstand fatigue, providing unrivaled durability and strength. Unlike standard OEM fasteners, our bolts are designed to handle the extra stress of high-performance engines, ensuring long-lasting performance and reliability.
MAXIMUM STRENGTH
Our connecting rod bolts feature fine threads with close pitch, maximizing their strength and allowing for secure tightening between the piston assembly and crankshaft. This fine-thread design provides superior strength compared to standard OEM fasteners, ensuring that your engine operates at its maximum potential.
IMPROVED ENGINE STABILITY
By improving engine stability and strength, our connecting rod bolts provide a smoother, more responsive ride, ensuring that your Power Stroke delivers the performance you demand. With our bolts, you'll experience improved acceleration, reduced vibration, and enhanced overall vehicle performance.
EASY INSTALLATION
Our package includes 16 M9*49.5 mm bolts, 1 socket, and 1 manual. With our detailed manual and all the necessary components included, you can install our bolts with confidence, ensuring that your Ford Power Stroke is operating at its best.

Record the free length of every bolt before it goes in. A rod bolt is a consumable that looks permanent. Measuring each bolt now and keeping the number is what lets you decide at the next teardown whether it is still good — the manual's limit is 0.001" of growth. Without a baseline you are guessing, and rod bolts are the wrong place to guess.
Why rod bolts matter more than any other fastener in the engine
Every other fastener in an engine sees load in one direction. A rod bolt sees it in both, thousands of times a minute. At the top of the exhaust stroke the piston and rod are decelerating hard and trying to pull the cap off the rod; a fraction of a revolution later, combustion slams the whole assembly back the other way. That reversal makes rod bolts the highest-cycle, highest-consequence fastener in the engine.
On a 6.0L or 6.4L the numbers are unforgiving. These are heavy pistons and heavy rods, and a tuned truck with a bigger charger raises peak cylinder pressure sharply — which is why cracked pistons and thrown rods, rather than gaskets, become the failure mode once the deck has been studded. XOTIC PERFORMANCE™ rod bolts are manufactured from our premium XOTIC 7200 steel alloy — substantially higher tensile strength than the factory hardware — and backed by a lifetime warranty.
What's in the CP115 kit
- 16 × connecting rod bolts (XOTIC 7200 alloy)
- 1 × socket
- 1 × fastener assembly lubricant
Before you start: verify first
Confirm that part number CP115 is compatible with your application before installing any components. Inspect the connecting rods, caps and bearings for cracks, wear or damage before assembly, and replace anything questionable rather than building around it.
How to install connecting rod bolts on a 6.0L or 6.4L Power Stroke
- Clean everything. Clean all bolts, threads and mating surfaces thoroughly to remove contaminants and debris.
- Lubricate with the supplied lubricant only. Apply the provided fastener lubricant evenly to the threads and under the bolt head, for consistent clamping force.
- Assemble the rotating assembly. Install bearings and pistons per the manufacturer's guidelines, seat the connecting rods on the crankshaft, and refit each rod cap in its original orientation.
- Hand-thread each bolt. Run each bolt in until snug and verify proper alignment and seating.
- Torque in two stages. Snug all bolts to 10 ft-lbs, then bring them to a final 55 ft-lbs.
- Re-check and record. Verify torque uniformity across every bolt and document the original bolt length for future comparison.
- At the next teardown, measure. Compare each bolt against its recorded length. Replace any bolt stretched more than 0.001" or showing damage.
6.0L / 6.4L Power Stroke connecting rod bolt torque specs
| Stage | Torque |
|---|---|
| 1 (snug) | 10 ft-lbs |
| 2 (final) | 55 ft-lbs |
A common mistake to avoid: substituting your own lubricant. Torque is a proxy for preload, and the relationship between them depends entirely on friction. Motor oil under the head of a rod bolt can leave you well short of the clamp load the spec assumes — on the one fastener in the engine that has no margin for it. Use the supplied lubricant, on the threads and under the head.
Frequently asked questions
What is the rod bolt torque spec for a 6.0L or 6.4L Power Stroke?
Snug all bolts to 10 ft-lbs, then final-torque to 55 ft-lbs using the supplied fastener lubricant.
Can rod bolts be reused?
Only if you measured them going in. Compare each bolt to its recorded free length at teardown — anything that has grown more than 0.001", or shows galling or thread damage, gets replaced.
Do the caps have to go back on the same rods?
Yes, and in the same orientation. Rod caps are machined in place with their rods; swapping or flipping one leaves the big-end bore out of round.
Does this kit fit both the 6.0L and the 6.4L?
Yes — CP115 covers both the 6.0L and the 6.4L Power Stroke from 2003 through 2010.
